- simplify means to make something easier by removing complicated parts or extra details;
- sim, in this movie, is short for “simulation” - it’s an artificial being or robot that looks and acts like a real human;
- refrain means to avoid doing or stop yourself from doing something;
- package means a related group of things when they are offered together as a single unit;
- accounting means the skill or activity of keeping records of the money a person or organization earns and spends;
- cashier means a person whose job is to receive and pay out money in a shop, bank, restaurant, etc.;
- simultaneously means happening or being done at exactly the same time;
- adapt means to change, or to change something, to suit different conditions or uses;
- evolve means to change or develop slowly over a period of time;
- supervision means the act of watching a person or activity and making certain that everything is done correctly, safely, etc.;
- assessment means the act of judging or deciding the amount, value, quality, or importance of something, or the judgment or decision that is made;
- belongs to means to be the property of someone, here, Alice is asking if the father is responsible for the child, if she is his daughter
- heart attack, people often use this phrase when someone (especially their child) does something dangerous that makes them very worried;
- stature means how tall someone is. In this scene, when Alice say “her tiny stature,” she is talking about how small the little girl is;
- sophisticated means having a good understanding of the way people behave and/or a good knowledge of culture and fashion;
