Hi everyone! Welcome to a romantic English lesson. Today, we’re going to learn some fun and useful phrases from the show XO, Kitty. Let’s watch and learn.

Words and phrases

  • oh, look. This is a phrase used to get someone’s attention. It means, “Pay attention to this!” or “Look at this!”
  • it just sort of happened. This means, “It happened naturally, without planning.” It’s used to explain that something occurred without the person trying to make it happen.
  • you think I’m annoying. This means, “You believe I am bothering you or making you angry.” It’s a way to say someone finds you irritating or frustrating.
  • endearing means something that easily makes you feel warm or loving toward someone. For example, if someone is funny in a cute way, you might say they are “endearing”.
  • is this a prank? A ‘prank’ is a joke or trick played on someone. This phrase means, “Is this a joke? Are you tricking me?”
  • it sounds crazy, but… means, “This might seem strange or unbelievable, but…” It’s used to introduce an idea that might surprise someone.
  • complicated means something is difficult to understand or has many parts that make it confusing. For example, a relationship can be “complicated” if there are many feelings or problems involved.
  • forget what I said. This means, “Don’t think about what I just told you.” It’s used when someone wants to take back their words or doesn’t want the other person to remember them.
  • drama means emotional or exciting situations, often involving problems or conflicts between people. For example, “the drama with Min Ho” means there are emotional issues involving Min Ho.
  • definitely means without doubt or for sure. For example, “They definitely saw us” means, “I am sure they saw us.”
  • assembly is a meeting or gathering of people, often in a school or workplace. For example, a school assembly is when all the students come together to listen to announcements.
